Social and Environmental Responsibility

Fairmont Monte Carlo places sustainability at the heart of its development, taking concrete actions to protect the environment and promote social responsibility.

In 2024, the hotel earned the prestigious Green Globe certification, a global benchmark for sustainability in tourism. Join us in our commitment and calculate your carbon footprint using the tool developed by Accor.

Our primary goal is to become one of the Principality’s key pillars in environmental preservation by adopting the right practices and positioning ourselves as an example for all. Below are some of the sustainable initiatives implemented by the hotel, alongside the measures undertaken by Accor and the Fairmont brand in the areas of civil, environmental, and social responsibility. INITIATIVES

Fairmont Monte Carlo partners with the Principality and the Ministry of Energy Transition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable practices and eco-conscious suppliers.
The hotel has achieved the goal of zero single-use plastics, offers transfers in electric vehicles, and uses an innovative heat pump that harnesses marine energy for heating and cooling.
In dining, it combats food waste, prioritizes local products, recycles compost and oil, and encourages the reuse of linens and towels to save water and energy.
Amù restaurant features a bioclimatic structure that minimizes its energy footprint.

COMMUNITY

The Fairmont Monte Carlo is proud to partner with organizations and associations that share the same values in order to develop sustainable hospitality solutions.

The hotel has made donations of clothing to “Amis du Liban,” bed linens to the French Red Cross for homeless individuals, and furniture donations to its employees. The teams also regularly deliver soup for the Red Cross outreach program.

AWARENESS

To educate employees about new sustainable practices, the Fairmont Monte Carlo offers training programs and ensures a quality work environment with the implementation of rules within the hotel to improve everyone’s surroundings. The goal is to raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility among employees. Carpooling and the practice of turning off computers and lights at the end of the day are actions that are implemented in the hotel.

TOWARDS AN EVEN MORE RESPONSIBLE FUTURE

Several actions are being taken, to name just a few, such as a shift towards bulk purchasing, the use of biodegradable trash bags, and the installation of automated air conditioning and lighting systems (using home automation).

The hotel aims to obtain the Green Globe label this year.
